7.3. Come posso ottenere un driver media?

Driver images can be obtained from several sources. They may be included with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or they may be available from a hardware or software vendor's website. If you suspect that your system may require one of these drivers, you should create a driver diskette or CD-ROM before beginning your Red Hat Enterprise Linux installation.
Per utenti con sistemi basati su x86, il CD-ROM 1 di Red Hat Enterprise Linux include immagini del driver (incluso images/drvnet.img — driver di schede di rete e images/drvblock.img — driver per controller SCSI) contenente numerosi driver (comuni e non).

Nota

È possibile anche usare una immagine del driver tramite un file di rete. Invece di usare il comando di avvio linux dd, usare il comando linux dd=url, dove url è sostituito da un indirizzo HTTP, FTP, o NFS dell'immagine del driver da usare.

nella sezione chiamata Bug Fixes. Occasionalmente è possibile trovare hardware molto diffusi subito dopo la release di Red Hat Enterprise Linux, che non funzionano correttamente con i driver già presenti nel programma d'installazione, oppure inclusi nelle immagini driver sul CD #1 di Red Hat Enterprise Linux. In questi casi il sito web di Red Hat può contenere un link ad una immagine del driver.

7.3.1. Creazione di un dischetto dei driver da un file d'immagine

Per creare un dischetto driver da una immagine del dischetto driver usando Red Hat Enterprise Linux:
  1. Inserite un dischetto vuoto e formattato (o un dischetto LS-120 per utenti del sistema Itanium) nella prima unità del dischetto (o LS-120).
  2. Nella stessa directory contenente l'immagine del dischetto dei driver, come drvnet.img, digitate dd if=drvnet.img of=/dev/fd0 come root.

Nota

Red Hat Enterprise Linux supporta l'utilizzo di un USB pen drive per l'aggiunta delle immagini del driver durante il processo d'installazione. Il modo migliore per fare ciò è quello di montare l'USB pen drive e copiare il driverdisk.img desiderato su USB pen drive. Per esempio: 
dd if=driverdisk.img of=/dev/sda
Vi verrà richiesto durante l'installazione, di selezionare la partizione e specificare il file da usare.
