Topic

An update for convert2rhel is now available for supported conversions of Alma Linux, CentOS Linux, Oracle Linux, and Rocky Linux 8 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.

Description

The convert2rhel package provides the Convert2RHEL utility, which performs operating system conversion. During the conversion process, Convert2RHEL replaces all RPM packages from the original Linux distribution with their RHEL version.

Enhancement(s):

  • Allow converting CentOS Stream 8 in upstream (RHELC-676)
  • Execute subscription-manager facts --update as part of analysis (RHELC-1164)
  • Analysis: Exit with 1 on a rollback failure (RHELC-1275)
  • Exit code 2 when inhibitors are detected (RHELC-1276)
  • convert2rhel to not register a system to Satellite (RHELC-1313)
  • Remove the backup partition workaround (RHELC-1376)
  • Merge RestorablePackage and ChangedRPMPackagesController together (RHELC-1382)
  • Clean deprecated env variables and cli options (RHELC-1425)
  • Deprecate 8.6 support in convert2rhel (RHELC-1426)
  • Rename CONVERT2RHEL_UNSUPPORTED_INCOMPLETE_ROLLBACK (RHELC-1430)

Bug Fix(es):

  • Install subscription-manager directly through yum (RHELC-601)
  • Disable RHEL repos when performing checks (RHELC-884)
  • Improve detection of RHSM credentials (RHELC-1228)
  • Dependency resolution failed: removing incorrect pkg versions (RHELC-1282)
  • versionlock.list file not backed up and restored after the rollback (RHELC-1291)
  • convert2rhel fails to backup packages (oracle-logos) if they are on a Satellite (RHELC-1385)
  • Single activation key: Disable/enable repos during rollback (RHELC-1494)
  • No internet leads to a failure to backup packages that cause a transaction validation failure (RHELC-1499)
  • Removing the file backup when restoring outside of rollback (RHELC-1516)
  • Redhat.repo not being backed up when registered to Satellite (RHELC-1521)
  • Passing username/password using CLI with org/key in config is broken (RHELC-1525)
  • Regression: libreport-plugin-mantisbt causes transaction failure (RHELC-1526)
  • Unclear message to user when "Failed to validate yum transaction." is hit (RHELC-1528)
  • Failing to install removed packages not evaluated as a rollback failure (RHELC-1556)
  • Package backup download failing on pre-registered systems (RHELC-1463)
