Why upgrades to OpenShift AI 3.0 are not supported
The OpenShift AI 3.0 release introduces significant technology and component changes, making a direct upgrade from 2.25 technically complex. To ensure a high-quality user experience and recognizing 3.0's status as a fast release, we are investing additional time to ensure a smooth migration path from 2.x to 3.x. In particular, we are prioritizing the migration path from a 2.x stable release (for example, OpenShift AI 2.25) to the first stable 3.x release.
OpenShift AI 3.0 is a fast release and is generally not intended for production upgrade paths. Fast releases are only supported until the next fast release, creating an impractical, accelerated upgrade cycle for most customers. The vast majority of customers upgrade production environments from one stable release to another, which we will continue to support.
OpenShift AI 3.0 is intended for fresh installations, enabling organizations to evaluate the new features and capabilities. OpenShift AI 2.25 is a stable and EUS release and will continue to be supported for an extended period per the defined lifecycle.
