The multicluster engine for Kubernetes operator 2.4 Support Matrix

Updated -

The multicluster engine for Kubernetes operator provides the tools and capabilities to address common challenges that administrators and site reliability engineers face as they work across a range of environments, including multiple datacenters, private clouds, and public clouds that run Kubernetes clusters.

General support statement

  • The most current version of MCE is supported, along with the two previous versions, and all z-stream releases of those versions.

  • The most recent Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) version released with this MCE version is supported, along with two previous RHOCP versions, and z-stream releases of those supported RHOCP versions.

  • This version of MCE also supports the very next RHOCP version. Note: Hosted control planes 4.14, however, does NOT support the next RHOCP version.

  • For product lifecycle information for RHOCP, see Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Life Cycle. MCE is not supported on RHOCP versions that have reached their end-of-life status.

Supported browsers

Because they share the same interface, the integrated console supports the same browsers as the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform. See Accessing the web console in the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform documentation for information about supported browsers and versions.

Supported platforms for multicluster engine operator

The multicluster engine operator has two main components:

  • A server component called the “hub cluster” where the management tools and user interface run
  • A client component that is installed on all Kubernetes clusters that can be managed by the “hub cluster”
  • Note: You do not have to use a dedicated cluster for your hub cluster.

For product lifecycle information for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, see Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform Life Cycle. The multicluster engine for Kubernetes operator is not supported on OpenShift Container Platform versions that have reached their end-of-life status.

Note: As the pace of change in public cloud features is high, constantly changing and evolving, the compatibility for RHACM is correct at GA of the product. Best effort basis during errata cycle for public cloud vendors introduced breaking changes (intended or unintended) to existing functionality. Any other changes or additions would be considered as a Request For Enhancement (RFE), which is evaluated for potential inclusion in future releases. An RFE can be requested using standard support mechanisms. For more details on Red Hat Support, see What is Commercially Reasonable Support?

For Kubernetes services, see Public Cloud Kubernetes support statement.

Feature support

The multicluster engine for Kubernetes operator allows you to perform actions on the clusters that it manages, and provides features for interacting with and providing information about those clusters. This section outlines the status of features support that you can perform on clusters.
