The ls command hangs on large NFS directory
Issue
- When the user attempts to
lson a NFS directory with 200,000+ files/sub-directories, the command hangs indefinitely. - No response from
lsin past 23 min on VM so did CTRL-C. - listing files over NFS appears to hang or perform extremely slowly when a folder has many files
/bin/lscommand performance is very slow in nfs share with 700,000 individual files
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- NFS
- Large number (more than 100,000) files in the one directory
