GFS filesystem withdraws in function "gfs_get_meta_buffer" even after checking with gfs_fsck on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5

Issue

  • We had some issues with this VG before, we ran fsck.gfs -y and the file system were able to mount again. Now after one month the file system withdraw again exactly on the same block.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability and Resilient Storage Add Ons)
    • Issue reported on RHEL5 update 4 (kernel-2.6.18-164.11.1.el5) but may affect other updates.
  • Red Hat Cluster Suite cluster with one or more nodes
    • GFS kernel module kmod-gfs-0.1.34-2.el5 is known to encounter this problem, but there may be others.
