UUID displayed by dmidecode and lshal command is different

Issue

  • UUID displayed by dmidecode and lshal command is different, some of the characters in outputs are reversed.
$ dmidecode | grep -i uuid
UUID: 85700036-11EF-11E1-BBDA-389239CC2C41

$ lshal |grep -i system.hardware.uuid
system.hardware.uuid = '36007085-EF11-E111-BBDA-389239CC2C41'  (string)

UUID in `/sys/class/dmi/id/product_uuid` file:
36007085-EF11-E111-BBDA-389239CC2C41

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 and any releases before that in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 and before
