JBoss ON CLI cannot connect to a server when agent-to-server uses sslsocket

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We configure JBoss ON 3.2.0 so that agent-to-server communication uses "sslsocket" transport as per below extract of rhq-server.properties:
rhq.communications.connector.transport=sslsocket
rhq.communications.connector.bind-address=
rhq.communications.connector.bind-port=7453
rhq.communications.connector.transport-params=/jboss-remoting-servlet-invoker/ServerInvokerServlet

But then, connecting JBoss ON CLI to the server fails with the below error:

unconnected$ login rhqadmin rhqadmin servername 7080
Login failed: <html><head><title>JBoss Web/7.2.2.Final-redhat-1 - JBWEB000064: Error report</title><style><!--H1 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:22px;} H2 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:16px;} H3 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:14px;} BODY {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:black;background-color:white;} B {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;} P {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;background:white;color:black;font-size:12px;}A {color : black;}A.name {color : black;}HR {color : #525D76;}--></style> </head><body><h1>JBWEB000065: HTTP Status 500 - </h1><HR size="1" noshade="noshade"><p><b>JBWEB000309: type</b> JBWEB000066: Exception report</p><p><b>JBWEB000068: message</b> <u></u></p><p><b>JBWEB000069: description</b> <u>JBWEB000145: The server encountered an internal error that prevented it from fulfilling this request.</u></p>.....
Usage: login username password [host port [transport]]
