RHEL6: NFS4 CLOSE repeats with NFS4ERR_ADMIN_REVOKED (10047) error
Issue
- We have gathered a tcpdump and see that one NFS4 CLOSE operation is being sent and repeatedly completing with 10047 status (NFS4ERR_ADMIN_REVOKED)
- A process is hung in a close system call, and ultimately it is because NFS4 CLOSE operation is not completing
- During the period of time where CLOSE repeatedly completes with NFS4ERR_ADMIN_REVOKED, one or more bad sequence-id messages may be seen.
NFS: v4 server nfs-server returned a bad sequence-id error!
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (NFS client)
- kernels earlier than kernel-2.6.32-431.29.2.el6
- NFS4
- Seen with NetApp NFS server
- Ontap 8.1.2P4
- delegations disabled
