xinetd kills all child processes when SIGHUP is received ?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • The xinetd kills all child processes(SIGKILL) when sending a SIGHUP to xinetd (reload configuration).

  • As per man page:

SIGHUP causes a hard reconfiguration, which means that xinetd re-reads the configuration file and terminates the servers for services that are no longer available.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
