Issue

  • We use Portworx as CSI Storage for our internal kubernetes solution. Whenever we execute the pxctl status command, it shows following warning:

WARNING: multipath version 0.8.4 (between 0.7.7 and 0.9.3) is known to have issues with crashing and/or high CPU usage.
If possible, please upgrade multipathd to version 0.9.4 or higher to avoid this issue."

After checking above warning message with Portworx support, they pointed to a following known bug in multipath-tools which could cause CPU spike and cause FDA volume creation to fail:

Could you let us know if the RHEL 8.8, 8.9 provided device-mapper-multipath packages are exposed to above bug?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.8
  • device-mapper-multipath
