Post kernel-core package installation files like vmlinuz, initramfs, System.map, config and symvers are not deployed because of missing /etc/machine-id

Issue

  • Latest kernel files under /boot are missing

    For example:
    
    # rpm -Vv kernel-core-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64 | grep missing
    missing   g /boot/.vmlinuz-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64.hmac
    missing   g /boot/System.map-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64
    missing   g /boot/config-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64
    missing   g /boot/initramfs-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64.img
    missing   g /boot/symvers-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64.gz
    missing   g /boot/vmlinuz-4.18.0-425.19.2.el8_7.x86_64
