Why RHEL 9 virtual machine booting is stuck or is booting into emergency mode after cloning the virtual machine from a sealed image?

Issue

  • After sealing the virtual machine using sealing software, the virtual machine is stuck in booting or booting into an emergency shell.
  • RHEL 9 virtual machine template was created using the Seal Template (Linux only) option in Red Hat Virtualization (RHV). The virtual machines created from these templates are stuck during booting or it is booting into an emergency shell.
  • A RHEL 9 image was sealed using virt-sysprep. However, VM created using these images are stuck during booting or are booting into an emergency shell.
