Message "Could not find variable scope for variable xxx" in the server.log file

When running process the below error is logged in the server log:
10:02:45,319 ERROR [org.jbpm.workflow.instance.node.WorkItemNodeInstance] (default task-12) Could not find variable scope for variable mygroup 10:02:45,319 ERROR [org.jbpm.workflow.instance.node.WorkItemNodeInstance] (default task-12) when trying to replace variable in string for Work Item Human Task 10:02:45,319 ERROR [org.jbpm.workflow.instance.node.WorkItemNodeInstance] (default task-12) Continuing without setting parameter.
Environment
- Red Hat Process Automation Manager (RHPAM) 7.8.1
- Red Hat Single Sign On (RHSSO) 7.4.0
- The user task defines the variable
#{mygroup}as a group;
