Java application fails to start on RHEL7 OpenJDK 8 32-bit: Can't find JVM shared library: libjvm.so

Issue

Moving from Oracle JDK to the Red Hat build of OpenJDK, the java application fails to start with the following error:

Can't find JVM shared library: libjvm.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Memory fault(coredump)

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Red Hat build of OpenJDK 8 32-bit
