How do I grow an LVM Physical Volume on a partition after resizing the disk?

Issue

  • I have resized a disk but my LVM Physical Volume is still at the same old size.

  • The following disk was resized from 50Gb to 120Gb but still appears as a 50Gb PV.

    # pvs
PV         VG         Fmt  Attr PSize  PFree 
/dev/sdb1  VolGroup02 lvm2 a--  50.00g  2.00g

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • LVM Physical Volume on disk partition (eg: /dev/sdb1)
