How to get the "xrandr" command to work with vnc ?

Issue

  • How to allow dynamic resizing of screen in vnc session ?
  • xrandr commands can be used to resize screen in Xorg, Is there any way to get xrandr to work with vnc as well ?

  • Simply placing xrandr option in the /etc/sysconfig/vncserver file and restarting vncserver service causes it to complain about how it is not recognized.

    # /sbin/service vncserver restart

Shutting down VNC server: 37:metal                         [  OK  ]
Starting VNC server: 37:metal Unable to start Xvnc, exiting
                                                        [FAILED]
