piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: Host SMBus controller not enabled!
Issue
- On boot, the console produces the following messages (as well as
dmesgand/var/log/messages):
piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: Host SMBus controller not enabled!
- System fails to boot with the above message as well
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux hosted on a VMware Hypervisor
