OpenShift Router haproxy process generates core dumps starting in v3.9.71-4

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • The OpenShift Router is crashing repeatedly which generates core dumps and fills up filesystem.
  • After upgrading one of our OCP installations from 3.7 to 3.9 the updated router pods are generating multiple core dumps files (core.XXXX) at a high frequency and rapidly eating pod disk space, causing the subsequent router reloads to fail.

Environment

  • Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
    • 3.9.71
    • haproxy18-1.8.17-3.el7.x86_64
    • ose-haproxy-router v3.9 (e3d8c2560f68)
