How do I choose the right tuned profile?

Issue

• The RHEL tuned package provides a number of profiles that contain kernel and power-management tuning suggestions based on workload characteristics. The tunings provided in the profiles were found by Red Hat Performance Engineering to increase performance as compared to untuned systems.

• Note that these profiles are meant as a starting point, when out of the box performance is not adequate. The intent is to provide a flexible, consolidated location for kernel tunings that suit the individual customer's workloads, and that site/application-specific tuned profiles can be managed through standard configuration-management methodology.
