Postgres on Gluster ERROR: unexpected data beyond EOF in block

Issue

A Postgres database is hosted on a Gluster volume. The volume has been tuned for performance. Postgres operations throw an error that includes the string "ERROR: unexpected data beyond EOF in block". Here is an example of this type of error:

pg_restore: [archiver (db)] COPY failed for table "rzd_education": ERROR:  unexpected data beyond EOF in block 10243 of relation base/16385/16498

Environment

  • Red Hat Gluster Storage
  • Postgres
  • Database files stored on a Gluster volume
  • The volume setting "performance.stat-prefetch" is enabled
