Issue

• What should the device name for cciss disks be in RHEL 6?
• Missing expected cciss devices in RHEL 6
• When using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 on HP servers, the onboard disks are always named: /dev/cciss/c0d0, /dev/cciss/c0d1, etc. This is always the case - whether we're using blades or rack mounted servers, G5 or G6.
• During a kickstart install of RHEL 6 on a HP G6 blade (BL460c), the internal disks are being named /dev/sda, /dev/sdb; however, using the same kickstart profile on a HP G5 blade, the disks are still being named /dev/cciss/*.
• Is this expected behaviour?
• Why did device naming change in RHEL6 for Smart Array (cciss) devices?
• DL380 G7 server, RHEL6u2, seeing /dev/sda instead of /dev/cciss/c0d0, why?
• I am expecting device names of /dev/cciss/c0d0 but see /dev/sda instead, is this a problem?
