Error message "unable to create file '/run/user/0/dconf/user': Permission denied" recurring in the /var/log/messages file

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • We keep seeing the error message

journal: unable to create file '/run/user/0/dconf/user': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.

in our /var/log/messages file about once a minute. There is no behavior change experienced. What is causing this error message?

  • Can we ignore error messages like

journal: unable to create file '/run/user/0/dconf/user': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.

    in our /var/log/messages file?

  • When we check journal with journalctl -b command, I found that the messages are generated by tracker-extract process.

tracker-extract[4038]: unable to create file '/run/user/0/dconf/user': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.
tracker-extract[4038]: unable to create file '/run/user/0/dconf/user': Permission denied. dconf will not work properly.
