How to disable the Gnome tracker service

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Disabling the Tracker service from Gnome leaves at least the tracker-store service running.
  • The tracker-store service cannot be stopped with graphical tools that Gnome provides.
  • If left running with the standard configuration there is a possibility that all of the services will be restarted after reboot.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7
  • Gnome Desktop Manager
