'multipath -r' gives "alua not supported" message with 3PARdata storage.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • multipath -r command gives below error message for all the newly assigned LUNs. When same LUNs are shared with another server does not give this error message.

    Feb 28 05:33:55 | sdbth: alua not supported
    Feb 28 05:33:55 | sdbtw: alua not supported
    Feb 28 05:33:55 | sdbul: alua not supported
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Storage "3PARdata" with default ALUA mode present within multipath:
# multipathd -k"show config" | grep 3PARdata -A 16 | egrep "vendor|path_grouping_policy|prio|}" | head -5
        vendor "3PARdata"
        path_grouping_policy "group_by_prio"
