Why is myhostname added to /etc/nsswitch.conf when updating systemd

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • We have to remove the myhostname from the nsswitch.conf to make sure the IPv4 address is returned instead of ::1, fix taken from https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1287253. But after updating the systemd RPM our change is undone. The systemd has in it %post hardcode that it has to add the myhostname to the hosts line in nsswitch.conf

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • systemd
