Writeback or writethrough cache mode can only be set via 'viodiskcache' custom property for file-based storage

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • If the viodiskcache custom VM property is set to writeback or writethrough, this is only viable for file-based storage.

  • If set on a VM with block-based storage, the VM will either fail to start or revert to no caching configured.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.x
