Getting "attempt to access beyond end of device" error on RHEL

Issue

  • Messages similar to the following are seen in /var/log/messages:
  Aug  3 23:18:23 localhost kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device
  Aug  3 23:18:23 localhost kernel: dm-56: rw=0, want=2288500976, limit=2281955328
  • A kernel panic happened after observing these same errors:
Jun  5 01:31:51 localhost kernel: ------------[ cut here ]------------
