How to determine which disk is available in the system prior to kickstarting it?

Issue

There are some different machine available in the lab.
Some are Virtual Machine, some are physical machines with hard disks named as hda/sda/vda or cciss/c0d0
Need to create a single universal kickstart file for all of them and need to detect which disk is available in the system and partition according to that.
There is only one disk available in the machine either hda/sda/vda or cciss/c0d0. Not in doubles.
