How to determine which disk is available in the system prior to kickstarting it?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • There are some different machine available in the lab.
  • Some are Virtual Machine, some are physical machines with hard disks named as hda/sda/vda or cciss/c0d0
  • Need to create a single universal kickstart file for all of them and need to detect which disk is available in the system and partition according to that.
  • There is only one disk available in the machine either hda/sda/vda or cciss/c0d0. Not in doubles.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Anaconda
