Issue

  • team or bond or VLAN interfaces lose connectivity when managed by NetworkManager
  • When a team or bond is configured with a VLAN device, and IPv4 DHCP or IPv6 Router Solicitation fails, the VLAN child device is deleted and not created again, and the team/bond slaves are constantly reset leading to intermittent network connectivity loss.

Environment

  • NetworkManager-1.0.0-16.git20150121.b4ea599c.el7_1.x86_64 or earlier
  • Link aggregation using teaming or bonding
  • VLAN interface on top of team or bond
  • IPv4 address configuration set to "Automatic"
  • IPv6 address configuration set to "Automatic"
  • No DHCP server available to bond/team/VLAN interface
  • No IPv6 Router Advertisement to bond/team/VLAN interface
