'/sbin/mkdumprd' fails to build kdump ramdisk with "The ifcfg-vnet0 or ifcfg-xxx which contains DEVICE=vnet0 field doesn't exist" message on RHEV hypervisor host

Issue

/sbin/mkdumprd run by service kdump start fails to build KDump RAM-disk with the following message on RHEV hypervisor host when KDump target is configured to be network target in /etc/kdump.conf:

# service kdump start
No kdump initial ramdisk found.                            [WARNING]
Rebuilding /boot/initrd-2.6.32-504.23.4.el6.x86_64kdump.img
The ifcfg-vnet0 or ifcfg-xxx which contains DEVICE=vnet0 field doesn't exist.
Failed to run mkdumprd

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
