Issue

One of the following types of messages is observed in the kernel log.

  • RHEL 5 (printk_ratelimit() mechanism):
kernel: printk: <xx> messages suppressed.
  • RHEL 6/7/8 (printk_ratelimit() mechanism):
kernel: __ratelimit: <xx> callbacks suppressed
  • RHEL 6/7/8 (per-caller printk_ratelimited() mechanism):
kernel: <function_name>: <xx> callbacks suppressed
