Tuning the timeout, downtime and speed cap values for RHEV 3.x live migration

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In RHEV, is there a timeout for live migration of a guest from one host to another one? If I start live migration of a vm with 128 GB of memory, will it hit a timeout and abort live migration?
  • Is the network bandwidth for live migration capped?
  • Is there a limit on concurrent live migrations?
  • How to limit IP bandwidth used by migrate actions
  • I have read somewhere in the RHEV 3.0 documentation that there is the ability to constrain a) number of concurrent migrations; and b) amount of IP bandwidth used per migration. I however cannot find what the default setting is nor where it is set / how to set it.
  • What is migration downtime and how to change it?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.x.
