How do I convert my LVM root disk to LVM mirror after installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I have installed RHEL7 with config:
vda1: /boot as xfs
vda2: / as LVM.
  • vdb will be used as sub-mirror. Now I need to create RAID1 mirror.
  • How I can make system more resilient by having 2 disks. If one fails, the system should continue to boot from other disk?
  • Need to replace root disk on LVM, how can we replace a root disk which is on LVM?
  • What is the procedure to do root mirroring on LVM?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL)7.0
  • /dev/vda is system disk on which OS has been installed
  • /dev/vdb is spare disk which is being used for mirroring
