Does Red Hat provide newer versions of MySQL?

Issue

  • RHEL 5 currently ships with MySQL 5.0 and RHEL 6 currently ships with MySQL 5.1.
  • I would like to have MySQL 5.5 or higher in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Are there any plans to include MySQL 5.5 or newer in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?
  • We are looking forward to updated MySQL packages in RHEL6 based on the current MySQL 5.5 release.
