Red Hat Network Outage and Data-Retention Policies

This page outlines the Red Hat Network outage and data-retention policies. For more information on Red Hat Network, see the product documentation.

Red Hat Network Outage Policy

Our highest priority is your access to Red Hat Network and the advantages of a registered account. We strive to maintain 100% uptime for your Red Hat Network service, but we periodically conduct maintenance to upgrade functionality, fix reported bugs, and improve performance.

Scheduled Maintenance Windows

Red Hat schedules all planned maintenance to Red Hat Network on Saturday from 9:00pm-3:00am, Eastern U.S. Time (1:00am-7:00am UTC). While Red Hat will not necessarily use every one of these windows to perform maintenance, we recommend that your enterprise develop business practices that allow this period of downtime for your Red Hat Network solution. Red Hat Network will send a notification about scheduled downtime at least one week in advance through the mailing list (see below) whenever possible.

Unscheduled Maintenance Windows

Unscheduled maintenance is possible, but rare. When Red Hat Network experiences issues that lead to an unscheduled interruption of service, we will do everything we can to minimize the impact to our customers and resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Red Hat Network will send a notification through the mailing list (see below) in advance of unscheduled maintenance whenever possible. In the event that we are unable to send advance notification of unscheduled maintenance, we recommend that you contact Customer Service for additional details.

Notification of Maintenance Events

To help you prepare for maintenance events that may affect Red Hat Network availability, Red Hat provides an opt-in mailing list for customers who want to receive notifications about scheduled maintenance windows and unscheduled maintenance events.

Please note that the Red Hat Customer Portal does not host a separate outage mailing list.

Red Hat Network Hosted Data-Retention Policy

System profile information, including system history, is considered "active" and will be maintained as long as your system is checking in regularly with Red Hat Network.

If your system fails to check in with Red Hat Network for a period of 180 days, the system profile information will be considered "inactive" and Red Hat reserves the right to delete your system profile information.
