CVE-2026-9334
Description
A flaw was found in perl-Cpanel-JSON-XS. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) by providing specially crafted JSON input with duplicate object keys. When the dupkeys_as_arrayref option is enabled, the decode_hv() function incorrectly processes the input, leading to a crash of the application. This issue is due to a type confusion error where a non-reference scalar is dereferenced as a reference.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Availability,Integrity,Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Memory; Modify Memory; Execute Unauthorized Code or Commands; DoS: Crash, Exit, or Restart
When a memory buffer is accessed using the wrong type, it could read or write memory out of the bounds of the buffer, if the allocated buffer is smaller than the type that the code is attempting to access, leading to a crash and possibly code execution.
