CVE-2026-93065

Description

A flaw was found in the iwlwifi driver of the Linux kernel. An integer overflow vulnerability exists where a loop counter, declared as an 8-bit unsigned integer, can wrap around if the firmware advertises more than 255 program counter entries. This can lead to an infinite loop, causing a denial of service, or potentially reading past an allocated memory array, which could result in information disclosure.

Statement

Red Hat rates this vulnerability as Moderate because exploitation requires local access and the presence of supported Intel wireless hardware, which is uncommon on enterprise servers and cloud environments. An attacker would need local access to interact with the system while triggering firmware error log operations to cause a kernel hang or denial of service. Standard installations lacking physical Intel wireless adapters remain unaffected.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
