CVE-2026-84653

Description

A flaw was found in Jenkins. An attacker with Overall/Manage permission can exploit incorrect permission checks in the Appearance configuration page. This allows them to modify configuration options they should not have access to, potentially leading to unauthorized changes within the Jenkins environment.

Statement

A flaw was found in Jenkins. Unauthorized configuration modification is possible due to incorrect permission checks in REST and CLI endpoints. Users with Overall/Manage permission can modify certain configuration settings without proper authorization. When combined with the Simple Theme Plugin, this can lead to cross-site scripting vulnerabilities. This issue affects Jenkins versions up to 2.579 (weekly) and up to 2.568.2 (LTS).

Mitigation

Update to Jenkins 2.580 (weekly) or Jenkins LTS 2.568.3 or later.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
