CVE-2026-77415

Description

A flaw was found in JSONata, a JSON query and transformation language. A remote attacker could exploit multiple object-integrity weaknesses by crafting malicious JSONata expressions. This could lead to arbitrary code execution with the privileges of the host process, allowing the attacker to take full control of the affected system.

Statement

This is a Critical flaw in JSONata, a JSON query and transformation language, allowing arbitrary code execution. Exploitation occurs when an attacker provides specially crafted JSONata expressions, leading to a complete compromise of the host process. This poses a significant risk to Red Hat products that process untrusted JSONata expressions, such as components within OpenShift Serverless, Red Hat Developer Hub, and Konflux.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
