CVE-2026-74604

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's thermal/drivers/hwmon component. A use-after-free vulnerability was introduced in the thermal_add_hwmon_sysfs() function due to the removal of a valid check in an error handling path. This flaw could allow a local attacker to cause a denial of service or potentially escalate privileges.

If the expired pointer references a memory location that is not accessible to the product, or points to a location that is "malformed" (such as NULL) or larger than expected by a read or write operation, then a crash may occur.
