CVE-2026-68430
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's drm/amdgpu/gfx8 component. An unnecessary BUG_ON() call within this component could lead to a system crash. This vulnerability could allow a local attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS), rendering the system unresponsive.
Statement
Red Hat has determined that this vulnerability does not pose a significant risk to systems where the affected kernel module is loaded. The BUG_ON() assertion requires local access and specific GPU hardware conditions to trigger. Red Hat may apply this fix in a future kernel update.
Mitigation
There is no mitigation for this flaw. Systems without AMD GFX8 GPU hardware are not affected by this issue in practice, as the vulnerable code path is only reached when the amdgpu driver is loaded for GFX8 hardware.
