CVE-2026-53092

Description

A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) subsystem. This vulnerability occurs due to incorrect delta tracking when source and destination registers are the same during register value adjustments. This can lead to a mismatch between the BPF verifier's analysis and the actual runtime behavior of BPF programs, potentially allowing a malicious BPF program to bypass security checks.

Statement

This CVE has been rated as Moderate because eBPF (and XDP) is restricted to root-only on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details

Info alert:Important note

CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).

The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
