CVE-2026-4874

Description

A flaw was found in Keycloak. An authenticated attacker can perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) by manipulating the client_session_host parameter during refresh token requests. This occurs when a Keycloak client is configured to use the backchannel.logout.url with the application.session.host placeholder. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to make HTTP requests from the Keycloak server’s network context, potentially probing internal networks or internal APIs, leading to information disclosure.

Statement

This flaw allows an authenticated attacker to perform Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) by manipulating the client_session_host parameter during refresh token requests. This vulnerability is exploitable when a Keycloak client is configured to use the backchannel.logout.url with the application.session.host placeholder, enabling the attacker to probe internal networks from the Keycloak server's context. Exploitation requires valid user credentials and a logout event.

Mitigation

Mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options don't meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base or stability.

By providing URLs to unexpected hosts or ports, attackers can make it appear that the server is sending the request, possibly bypassing access controls such as firewalls that prevent the attackers from accessing the URLs directly. The server can be used as a proxy to conduct port scanning of hosts in internal networks, use other URLs such as that can access documents on the system (using file://), or use other protocols such as gopher:// or tftp://, which may provide greater control over the contents of requests.
