CVE-2026-18710
Description
A flaw was found in org.mongodb/mongodb-driver. During routine client initialization, sensitive configuration information, including credentials for outbound network connectivity, is written to application log output in cleartext. A local attacker with the ability to read the affected application's logs or downstream log-aggregation storage could recover these credentials. This allows them to reuse the credentials to authenticate to the associated network infrastructure, leading to information disclosure.
Statement
This vulnerability has Moderate impact. A flaw in MongoDB driver components used by Red Hat products can lead to sensitive credential disclosure. During client initialization, credentials for outbound network connectivity are automatically written in cleartext to application logs. An attacker with local access to these logs could recover and reuse the credentials, compromising confidentiality.
Mitigation
To mitigate this issue, ensure that access to application logs and any downstream log aggregation storage is strictly controlled. Implement robust access control mechanisms to prevent unauthorized parties from reading log output, as this is where sensitive credentials may be exposed in cleartext during MongoDB driver client initialization. Regularly review and audit log access permissions.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.

Understanding the Weakness (CWE)
Confidentiality
Technical Impact: Read Application Data
An attacker with access to the system could read sensitive information stored in cleartext (i.e., unencrypted). Even if the information is encoded in a way that is not human-readable, certain techniques could determine which encoding is being used, then decode the information.
