CVE-2026-18321
Description
A flaw was found in NTPsec. A local attacker could exploit a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Zyfer refclock component, leading to the ntpd daemon crashing. This could result in a denial of service (DoS), making the network time synchronization service unavailable.
Statement
This flaw does not affect Red Hat Products, it only affects community projects.

Buffer overflows often can be used to execute arbitrary code, which is usually outside the scope of the product's implicit security policy. This can often be used to subvert any other security service.

Buffer overflows generally lead to crashes. Other attacks leading to lack of availability are possible, including putting the product into an infinite loop.
