CVE-2026-101607
Description
A flaw was found in the MySQL Server optimizer component. A remote attacker with high privileges and network access can exploit this vulnerability through multiple protocols to cause the service to hang or crash repeatedly. Successful exploitation results in a complete Denial of Service (DoS), making the database unavailable to legitimate users.
Statement
Red Hat has evaluated this vulnerability as having a Moderate severity impact because successful exploitation requires an attacker to possess elevated administrative privileges within the database instance, confining the threat to trusted or already compromised accounts. Although a privileged user can trigger an unexpected service termination or unresponsive state within the MySQL query optimizer daemon, the flaw cannot be leveraged to access confidential records or modify database data. Deployments that restrict administrative access and do not expose database ports to untrusted networks face substantially reduced exposure.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
