CVE-2024-47669
Description
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's nilfs2 component. Improper error handling in the log writing function can lead to two critical issues. First, if log construction fails, internal flags may remain uncleared, causing system operations to halt, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS). Second, an uncleared flag can prevent data from being written to the storage device, leading to corruption of the filesystem's block mapping.
Mitigation
For Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenShift products, mitigation is not required as these products are not affected by this vulnerability. For Fedora users utilizing the `nilfs2` filesystem, mitigation for this issue is either not available or the currently available options do not meet the Red Hat Product Security criteria comprising ease of use and deployment, applicability to widespread installation base, or stability.
