Statement

A bounds error in cachefiles_set_volume_xattr caused writing past the allocated buffer due to misuse of len. This led to a slab-out-of-bounds write detected by KASAN, potentially crashing the kernel during fscache volume creation. For the Red Hat Enterprise Linux the bug is already fixed or not actual (for all versions).

Mitigation

To mitigate this issue, prevent module cachefiles from being loaded. Please see https://access.redhat.com/solutions/41278 for how to blacklist a kernel module to prevent it from loading automatically.
