CVE-2022-36109
Description
A flaw was found in Moby. This flaw allows an attacker to bypass primary group restrictions due to a flaw in the supplementary group access setup.
Statement
The vulnerability in Moby (Docker Engine) regarding supplementary group access is classified as low severity due to its limited impact and specific conditions for exploitation. The affected code is primarily a dependency for Golang in Red Hat products, and the vulnerable functionality is not widely used across different environments or configurations. Moreover, the exploitation requires direct access to a running container and manipulation of supplementary group settings, which narrows the attack vector. Additionally, the vulnerability does not directly compromise the host system or allow for remote code execution. Given these factors, the overall risk posed by this issue is considered low for most typical Docker deployments.
Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) Score Details
Info alert:Important note
CVSS scores for open source components depend on vendor-specific factors (e.g. version or build chain). Therefore, Red Hat's score and impact rating can be different from NVD and other vendors. Red Hat remains the authoritative CVE Naming Authority (CNA) source for its products and services (see Red Hat classifications).
The following CVSS metrics and score provided are preliminary and subject to review.
